Rides & Culture

Rides & Culture is a website focused on the do-it-yourself bike builder. Low-cost bike builds with a unique style derived from the builder’s passion and love for their ride.

This website also explores the DIY bike builder community’s culture, interests other than riding, like restaurant and drink choices, inspiring art, plus riding gear and tool reviews. Rides & Culture also covers industry news, reviews independent shops and gives an opinion on new bikes.

I designed and built this website from conception to going live. This site was a collaboration of ideas gathered from editors and riders throughout the motorcycle industry forming a gathering place for the DIY bike builder.

Stories are posted with affiliate links and focused metadata to increase traffic. Email and social media marketing are utilized to promote and boost page views.

AIMag.com

With TAM Communications, I spearheaded their shift from print-only publishing to an expanding digital footprint, fully seeing through projects from ideation and conception to execution and follow-through.

These projects included building a website for their flagship publication American Iron Magazine, and an online store, GreaseRag.com, to sell back issues, clothing, and motorcycle novelties.

Daily posts for AIMag.com needed to be easily uploaded and shared online by multiple editorial staff members and contributors. I recently redesigned the entire site making it responsive for mobile and tablet viewing, plus updated the look and navigation with a modern design.

GreaseRag.com

GreaseRag.com, TAM Communications e-commerce store, was designed and built using a CMS based eCommerce platform and modern responsive design. This site features print magazine back-issues, plus assorted motorcycle clothing and novelties.

After completing the build my responsibilities shifted to manage, maintain, and update the online store. I also created any graphics needed for the site, photographed all products, wrote product descriptions, and posted all items to the website.

Focused Design

AIM and GreaseRag.com were designed to be easily run, updated, and maintained by a small staff. This was accomplished using a CMS platform and a clean focused design. Both sites were successful in reaching or surpassing their intended goal.

AIMag.com more than doubled its daily and monthly traffic after the recent redesign. Using daily social media and email marketing campaigns,  traffic increase from 400 to 2000+ views per day. This also, as designed, increased print magazine subscriptions and product sales at TAM’s online store GreaseRag.com.
